Petra Labs isn't a dashboard you log into and run yourself. It's an AEO partner: a measurement platform, an in-house team that runs content, PR and YouTube work for you, and custom attribution models that tie AI search to pipeline. It raised a $5.2M seed round in July 2026 and lists Zapier as a customer.
That model comes with a price. Petra's own solutions page says engagements start at $15,000 a month, typical programs run $250,000 to $600,000+ a year, and they're scoped as annual partnerships. There's no trial and no self serve plan, and the exact engine list isn't published.
So people look elsewhere when the budget isn't there yet, when they want the capability in house, or when they want to test AEO before a year long commitment. Here are 10 Petra Labs alternatives, from agency style partners to software you run yourself. Checked September 2026.
Disclosure: we build Orchly, and it's one of the tools on this list. We've used most of the others ourselves, a few notes come from customers who switched to us, and the rest comes from G2 and published user reviews. Every tool gets its good and bad points here, Orchly included.

1. Orchly: best Petra Labs alternative to run AEO in house for a fraction of the cost
Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform. It tracks how you show up in AI answers and on Google, then its agents draft the content, find the sources AI cites and send the outreach, with your approval at each step.
Petra sells a team plus software. Orchly gives your own team the software and the agents, starting at $49 a month instead of $15,000. If you have a marketer or two who can review drafts and approve pitches, you keep the same loop of track, act and measure without an annual contract.
Tracking you can check yourself
- Real interface answers. Orchly captures answers from the actual ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews interfaces every day. Gemini, Google AI Mode, Claude and Grok are paid add-ons.
- Prompts sorted the way you plan. Each prompt is tagged branded or non-branded and by intent, and prompt research suggests new ones for your category.
- Citations and gaps. The Citations tab lists every cited page, and Mention Gap shows the cited pages that name competitors but not you.
- Fact check. AI claims about your pricing, products and policies are compared with your Brand Brain and marked Supported or Contradicted. Useful when models mix up your product names or sub brands.
Execution without an agency retainer
A big part of what Petra sells is people who publish content, pitch press and work YouTube. Orchly's agents cover much of that loop in software.
- Content Agent. Turns lost prompts and decaying Search Console pages into article and refresh tasks, drafts them in your brand voice, and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Sanity or Ghost after you approve.
- Activation Agent. Finds the sites, Reddit threads and YouTube videos AI cites, drafts outreach, and sends it from your Gmail, Zoho or SMTP inbox.
- Site Health Agent. Audits pages for technical SEO and AI search issues, ranks them by priority and suggests the fix.
Traffic and revenue next to visibility
Petra's pitch is attribution. Orchly doesn't build custom models, but it puts the numbers you need for a first business case in one place.
- Search Console and GA4. Clicks, conversions and revenue sit beside AI visibility, with daily keyword rank tracking by country and device. See the Search Console integration.
- AI traffic analytics. On Pro, AI traffic analytics separates AI crawler visits from human referral visits by platform, page and country, once you connect your hosting or CDN.
Where Orchly falls short
- No embedded team. Orchly doesn't send strategists, PR people or influencer managers. The agents draft and send, but someone on your side still reviews and approves.
- No custom attribution models. There's no CRM connector for HubSpot or Salesforce and no marketing mix modeling. Revenue comes from GA4, which won't satisfy a CFO who wants pipeline level proof.
Pricing: Essential $49/month (25 prompts, 1 site, 1 user). Pro $125/month (100 prompts, 3 sites, 5 users, AI traffic analytics, custom agents, API). Enterprise custom. 7-day free trial.
Best for: teams that want to run AEO in house with tracking, Google data and agents in one place.
See Orchly pricing or start a free trial.
2. Profound: best for enterprise teams that want software, not a service
Profound is the enterprise platform most Petra buyers also talk to. It raised a $180M Series D at a $1.8B valuation on September 15, 2026.
In mid September 2026 it dropped its self serve plans. You now get a free 7 day trial, then a custom Enterprise contract with 9 engines, unlimited seats, API and SSO.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- You keep control. AI Marketer agents, CMS publishing, Search Console and GA4 integrations run inside your own team's workflow.
- Agent analytics. It reads CDN logs to show AI crawler and agent activity, plus shopping and a prompt volumes panel.
- A trial first. You can try it for 7 days before talking contracts, which Petra doesn't offer.
Where it falls short
- Still enterprise priced. There's no published price, and you need a sales process to buy it.
- No hands on team. You get software and support, not people running PR or YouTube for you.
- No Google SEO tools. No rank tracker, keyword research or site audit.
Pricing: free 7-day trial (limited engines, no history or exports), then custom Enterprise pricing.
Best for: large brands with an enterprise budget and an in house team to run it.
3. AirOps: best for content teams building their own AEO engine
AirOps is a content operations platform. You build workflows that research, write and refresh content at scale, and since May 2026 its Quill agent flags stale pages and citation gaps.
It raised a $40M Series B led by Greylock in November 2025, and its customers include Ramp, Chime, Wiz and Webflow. It holds about 4.6 on G2 across roughly 115 reviews.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Content at volume, run by you. If Petra's value to you is the content work, AirOps lets your team produce it with workflows you own.
- AI visibility built in. The Pro plan covers 7+ engines with unlimited seats.
- A free start. Solo is free, and there's a 14 day trial.
Where it falls short
- Steep learning curve. G2 reviewers talk about weeks of setup before workflows pay off.
- Hard to budget. Pro pricing isn't published, and task based billing makes costs hard to predict.
- No attribution models. It won't tie visibility to pipeline the way Petra's custom models aim to.
Pricing: Solo free (ChatGPT insights only). Pro and Enterprise custom. 14-day trial.
Best for: content teams that want to scale output themselves.
4. Conductor: best for enterprise SEO teams adding AEO
Conductor is an enterprise SEO platform that now calls its AI search product a "system of record for AEO". It tracks 9 AI experiences, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok, AI Mode and AI Overviews.
Customers include Citi, FedEx and Mastercard. On September 24, 2026, CPO Wei Zheng became CEO, with new products promised for its C3 event in October.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- One platform for SEO and AEO. Writing assistant, site monitoring and keyword tracking live next to AI search data.
- A real trial. Conductor offers a free 3 week trial without a card.
- Established vendor. It holds 4.7 on Capterra from 118 reviews, with a long enterprise track record.
Where it falls short
- Still expensive. Pricing isn't public, and Vendr puts the median contract around $49,000 a year.
- AI credits need Growth. The Essentials plan includes no AI search credits.
- Learning curve. G2 and Capterra reviewers mention complexity and long configuration.
Pricing: Essentials, Growth and Enterprise, all custom. Free 3-week trial.
Best for: enterprise SEO teams that want AEO inside the platform they already run.
5. Scrunch: best for technical teams and AI agent traffic
Scrunch was acquired by Sitecore in June 2026. It tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta on every plan.
Its standout is AXP, which serves AI optimized versions of your pages to bots, plus agent traffic monitoring, personas and misinformation detection.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Published pricing. Starter is $300 a month, $250 billed yearly, with 350 prompts.
- 7 engines included. No add-ons, and Claude is on every plan.
- Try before you commit. A 7 day free trial with no card.
Where it falls short
- Diagnoses, doesn't fix. No content creation or outreach, so you'd still need people for the work Petra's team does.
- AXP takes engineering. Setting it up is closer to a dev project than a marketing task.
- Seat costs. Starter includes 3 seats and extras are $25 each.
Pricing: Starter $300/month ($250 yearly), Growth $500/month, Enterprise custom. 7-day free trial.
Best for: teams on Sitecore or with engineers who can own AXP.
6. Brandlight: best for Fortune 500 brand portfolios
Brandlight is the closest match to Petra on buyer profile. It sells to Fortune 500 marketing teams, with customers like Volkswagen Group, LG and Estée Lauder, and it raised a $30M Series A in February 2026.
It tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok and Google AI, and added an AI Ads product in 2026.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Built for many brands. Portfolio views across brands and regions suit large parent companies.
- Paid AI ads in scope. Its AI Ads product measures ads inside AI answers.
- A pilot, not a year. You start with a paid 3 month pilot rather than an annual partnership.
Where it falls short
- No public pricing. Estimates vary widely and you'll need a sales process.
- Hard to act on. Reviewers say knowing what to do with the insights is the hard part.
- Attribution not shipped. Page level attribution is still listed as coming soon, which is exactly where Petra is strongest.
Pricing: custom, starting with a paid 3-month pilot.
Best for: multi brand enterprises that want portfolio reporting.
7. Evertune: best for brands with paid media budgets
Evertune runs each prompt up to 100 times per model to smooth out AI answer randomness. Its EverPanel draws on 150M prompts, and it covers 11 models.
It leans into paid media. It launched a ChatGPT ad agent in May 2026 and sells AI retargeting. Customers include Roku and WPP.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Published price. Pro is $800 a month, far below Petra's $15,000 floor.
- Heavy sampling. 100x runs per model give steadier numbers than single checks.
- Content included. Pro includes 25 articles a month.
Where it falls short
- No trial. You need a demo to get started.
- Key features are Enterprise. Bot analytics and website optimization sit on the custom tier.
- Paid tilt. If you want to earn visibility rather than buy it, much of the product won't matter to you.
Pricing: Pro $800/month. Enterprise custom.
Best for: brands that mix organic and paid AI visibility.
8. Goodie: best for a strategist on a mid market budget
Goodie pairs software with a strategist on its brand plans, which makes it the nearest thing here to Petra's service model at a published price.
It also tracks AI shopping, including Amazon's Alexa and Walmart's Sparky on Pro, and offers revenue attribution with GA4 and Search Console connections.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Human help without a six figure contract. Core includes a strategist for $399 a month.
- Commerce coverage. Retail assistants and SKU level tracking suit ecommerce brands.
- Content and analytics. An AEO writer and agent analytics are part of the platform.
Where it falls short
- Engines gated by tier. Gemini needs the $999 Pro plan, and Claude and Grok need Enterprise.
- Few public reviews. It's bootstrapped and has little independent review coverage.
Pricing: Core $399/month (120 prompts, 5 models, 5 seats). Pro $999/month. Agency $275. Enterprise custom. 7-day trial on Core.
Best for: ecommerce brands that want a strategist and shopping data.
9. Limy: best for pixel based revenue attribution
Limy is built around the same question Petra answers: does AI visibility turn into revenue? It uses a tracking pixel to tie prompts and AI agent traffic to conversions.
It's also based in New York and raised $10M in January 2026, with customers including AstraZeneca, Samsung and IKEA.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Attribution as software. Prompt to revenue tracking without paying for custom modeling.
- Published plans. Starter is $149 a month, and there's a 14 day trial.
- Bot analytics. It shows how AI agents visit your site.
Where it falls short
- Thin entry plan. Starter has 1 seat, 3 fixed engines and 50 prompts.
- Claude and Grok cost more. They start on the $749 Scale plan.
- Needs a pixel. Attribution depends on installing it, directly or through Google Tag Manager.
Pricing: Starter $149/month, Growth $449/month, Scale $749/month. 14-day trial.
Best for: teams whose main question is AI search revenue.
10. Peec AI: best for AI referral revenue on a small budget
Peec AI is a clean daily tracker with unlimited seats on every plan. It has more than 2,500 customers, including Attio, Wix and ElevenLabs.
On September 11, 2026 it added AI Referrals, which pulls sessions, conversions and revenue from AI assistants out of GA4. A Brand Perception view with fact checks followed.
Why switch from Petra Labs
- Revenue signal for a fraction of the cost. AI Referrals gives you a first revenue view without custom models.
- Unlimited users. Your whole team and agency can log in.
- Interface answers. Peec reads answers from the engine interfaces rather than the model APIs.
Where it falls short
- 3 engines per plan. Claude and Grok are premium upgrades on higher tiers or Enterprise.
- Tracking only. Its Actions feature scores opportunities, but there's no content, publishing or outreach.
Pricing: Starter about €85/month (50 prompts), Pro about €205 (150), Advanced about €425 (350). 7-day trial.
Best for: teams that want daily tracking and AI referral revenue cheaply.
What changed at Petra Labs in 2026
Petra is young, founded in 2025 in New York, and 2026 was its first big year in public.
- July. It raised a $5.2M seed round led by Work-Bench, with Afore and Pathlight, to grow its measurement platform and embedded services.
- Research. It published studies on sampling noise in LLM outputs (June) and on how prompt wording moves citations (August).
- Case studies. A Novig case study claims AI visibility rose from 0% to 21% in six months, and a Zapier story covers strategy through attribution. Both are Petra's own reports.
What hasn't changed: a $15,000 monthly floor, annual partnerships, no trial, and very little independent review coverage on G2 or Capterra.
When to stay with Petra Labs
- You want one accountable partner. If you'd rather hire an outcome than build a team, Petra's model is the point.
- You need attribution a CFO will accept. Custom marketing mix and multitouch models go further than GA4 referral data.
- Your work spans PR, YouTube and content. Petra runs earned and social work that software tools leave to you.
Which Petra Labs alternative should you choose?
- You want to run AEO in house with agents, Google data and a low starting price: Orchly.
- You want an enterprise platform your own team runs: Profound or Conductor.
- You want human strategy help at a published price: Goodie.
- Revenue attribution is the main question: Limy, or Peec AI on a smaller budget.
Weighing other enterprise options too? Our list of Profound alternatives covers more of the field.
