Grok decides whether to search public posts on X, the live web or both. xAI presents real-time access to X as the main thing that sets Grok apart.
Answers include numbered links inline and a full list of the URLs Grok looked at, X posts included. Not every URL in that list is cited in the answer itself.
xAI hasn’t published an official crawler name, IP ranges or robots.txt guidance. Crawler names you may see online aren’t confirmed by xAI, so robots.txt isn’t a reliable way to control Grok.
It gives Grok more to find. Grok searches public X posts in real time, and posts from your official handle are public content it can cite.
