Google AI Mode rank tracking tools show whether AI Mode mentions your brand, where you appear in its answer, and which of its many sources it cites. AI Mode passed 1 billion monthly users within a year of launch, Google said at I/O in May 2026, and it cites more sources per answer than any other Google surface.
We compared 10 AI Mode trackers on how they capture AI Mode, whether they keep it apart from AI Overviews, and what they show about the searches behind each answer. Checked September 2026.
Disclosure: Orchly is our product, an agentic AI search optimization platform, so it's on this list. We signed up for most of the tools below and used them ourselves, and some notes come from customers who moved to Orchly from them. We've shared what's good and what isn't for each one, including ours.

1. Orchly: best AI Mode tracker to appear in more AI Mode answers
AI Mode answers a question by breaking it into many background searches, then combining the results. Profound found in July 2026 that it cites about 15 sources per answer, against 11 for AI Overviews. Orchly's AI Mode tracker shows those fan-out searches, so you know why you're cited or skipped.
The searches behind every AI Mode answer
- Query fan-outs. The background searches AI Mode runs for each prompt. If you don't rank for them, you rarely get cited.
- Citations and Mention Gap. Every source cited, and the ones that mention competitors but not you.
AI Mode and AI Overviews, kept apart
- Separate tracking. Ahrefs found AI Mode and AI Overviews cite the same URLs only 13.7% of the time. Orchly tracks each on its own, with AI Overviews included on every plan.
- Prompts by brand and intent. Branded vs non-branded, and commercial, informational or transactional.
Your Google data in the same place
- Search Console and GA4. Search Console now reports AI Mode impressions, combined with AI Overviews and without clicks or queries. Orchly puts your Search Console and GA4 data next to prompt-level AI Mode tracking.
- Indexing and Page 360. Unindexed pages can't be cited. Orchly flags them and shows each page's organic and AI data together.
Getting cited more
- Content Agent and Site Health Agent. New pages and refreshes for the fan-out searches you miss, plus technical fixes, published after you approve.
Where Orchly falls short
- AI Mode is an add-on. It costs extra on Essential and Pro. Peec AI, SE Ranking and Semrush include it.
- Prompt-based, not keyword-based. For thousands of keywords, a rank tracker like SE Ranking is cheaper.
Pricing: Essential $49/month plus the AI Mode add-on. Pro $125/month (100 prompts, 5 users). 7-day free trial.
Best for: teams that want to understand and win AI Mode citations.

2. SE Ranking: best dedicated AI Mode tracker
SE Ranking's AI Mode tracker captures live answers and shows mentions, links and the average position of your links, separate from its AI Overviews tracker.
- Where it falls short. Claude is still listed as coming soon, there's no Grok or Copilot, and it tracks without creating content or doing outreach.
Pricing: Core from about $103/month billed yearly, plus the AI Search add-on.
Best for: SEO teams tracking many keywords.
3. Peec AI: best for AI Mode included by default
Peec AI includes AI Mode in its default model pool, with daily tracking and unlimited seats.
- Where it falls short. AI Mode counts toward the 3 engines on each plan.
Pricing: Starter about €85/month.
Best for: clean tracking.
4. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: best for Semrush users
Semrush tracks AI Mode alongside AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with prompt volume estimates.
- Where it falls short. 25 prompts per domain.
Pricing: $99/month per domain, billed yearly.
Best for: Semrush customers.
5. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for AI Mode research
Ahrefs Brand Radar switched to a prompt-based AI Mode index in May 2026 and offers a free AI Mode tracker for quick checks.
- Where it falls short. Modeled prompts, not live tracking of your own.
Pricing: from $199/month per platform.
Best for: competitive research.
6. ZipTie: best for AI Mode next to organic results
ZipTie captures AI Mode in a real browser alongside AI Overviews and organic results, and stores screenshots.
- Where it falls short. Usage-based pricing is hard to predict.
Pricing: from about $43/month.
Best for: SEOs comparing AI Mode with organic rankings.
7. Nightwatch: best rank tracker with AI Mode
Nightwatch adds daily AI Mode checks to its Google rank tracker, and reports whether you're mentioned, cited or recommended.
- Where it falls short. 50 AI prompts on Starter.
Pricing: Starter €79/month.
Best for: rank tracking plus AI checks.
8. Advanced Web Ranking: best for agencies reporting AI Mode
Advanced Web Ranking tracks AI Mode as its own search engine on every plan.
- Where it falls short. US-only for AI Mode, and weekly refreshes at best.
Pricing: from about $99/month.
Best for: agency reporting.
9. Keyword.com: best low-cost add-on
Keyword.com adds AI Mode to its rank tracker through a credit-based AI add-on, with hourly to weekly schedules.
- Where it falls short. Credits run out quickly across several engines.
Pricing: rank tracking from $3/month, plus AI credits.
Best for: small budgets.
10. Rankscale: best for cadence control
Rankscale tracks AI Mode at the same low credit cost as other engines, with configurable refresh.
- Where it falls short. Light reporting.
Pricing: from $20/month.
Best for: hands-on SEOs.
What to know about AI Mode in 2026
- It's big and growing. Google reported 1 billion monthly users in May 2026, with queries more than doubling every quarter.
- Ads are here, but citations still win. SE Ranking found in July 2026 text ads on 29% of commercial AI Mode queries, yet 88% of advertisers weren't among the cited sources for the same searches.
- The model keeps changing. AI Mode moved to Gemini 3.5 Flash in May 2026, and Google has updated the model since. Each change can shift citations.
- It's not AI Overviews. The two cite the same URLs only 13.7% of the time, so track them separately.
