Ecommerce SEO is mostly a scale problem.
You have thousands of product pages, hundreds of category pages and a filter menu that can spin up millions of URLs. Then AI search showed up and added a second channel to win.
That channel is growing fast. Adobe Analytics found AI traffic to US retail sites rose 393% year over year in Q1 2026, and in March it converted 42% better than other traffic.
So we compared 11 AI SEO tools for online stores across product and category content, technical SEO for big catalogs, keyword research, rank tracking, schema and AI search. Checked September 2026.
Quick note: we build Orchly, and it's one of the tools on this list. We've used most of the others ourselves, some notes come from store owners who switched, and the rest from G2 and user reviews. Every tool gets its good and bad parts here, ours included.

1. Orchly: best AI SEO tool for ecommerce to grow Google and AI search revenue together
Orchly is an agentic AI search optimization platform. It puts your Google data and your AI search data in one place, then agents turn the gaps into content, fixes and outreach.
For a store, that means you can see which category pages make money, which ones are slipping, and whether ChatGPT recommends your products or a competitor's.
See revenue by page, not just traffic
- Search Console and GA4 together. Clicks, impressions, conversions and revenue sit side by side, grouped by topic and by branded vs non-branded search.
- Page 360. Open any category or product page and see its Search Console, GA4 and AI visibility data in one view. Handy when a top category drops and you need to know why.
- Rank tracking. Daily keyword positions by country and device, so you can watch "running shoes for flat feet" on mobile in the US without a second tool.
Fix the technical issues that cost you
- Site Health Agent. It audits your pages for technical SEO and AI search issues, ranks them by priority and suggests the fix.
- Indexing report. See which pages Google indexed and which it skipped.
Write the category pages and buying guides
- Content Agent. It turns decaying Search Console pages and AI prompts you're losing into tasks, like a new buying guide or a category page refresh.
- Your brand voice. Drafts use Brand Brain, which holds your products, pricing, audience and voice. You approve before anything goes live on WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Sanity or Ghost.
Show up when AI recommends products
- AI shopping visibility. See when your products appear in ChatGPT shopping answers, their position, your share of voice, the competing products, and whether the price AI mentions matches your catalog. More on our shopping visibility tracker.
- Mention Gap and outreach. Find the review sites and "best of" roundups AI cites that name your competitors but not you. The Activation Agent drafts outreach and sends it from your inbox after you approve.
If AI visibility tracking is all you need, we cover that separately in our list of AI search visibility tools for ecommerce.
Where Orchly falls short
- Not a catalog crawler or description generator. Site Health audits 100 pages on Essential and 300 on Pro, and there's no Shopify publishing. For a 50,000 SKU crawl or bulk product descriptions, pair it with a crawler or a tool like Hypotenuse AI.
- Smaller keyword database. Semrush and Ahrefs have far more keyword and backlink data for deep research.
Pricing: Essential $49/month (25 prompts, 20 articles, 100 page audits). Pro $125/month (100 prompts, 50 articles, 300 pages, AI traffic analytics). 7-day free trial.
Best for: stores that want Google and AI search in one place, tied to revenue.
See Orchly pricing or start a free trial.
2. Semrush: best all-in-one SEO suite for online stores
Semrush is the default SEO suite for a lot of ecommerce teams. Keyword research, rank tracking, site audits, backlinks and competitor research all live in one login.
It also has an ecommerce angle. The Ecommerce Booster app for Shopify audits product pages and writes AI product and meta descriptions.
Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush in April 2026.
What we like
- Keyword data at scale. Keyword Magic and competitor gap reports are great for mapping category and product keywords across a big catalog.
- Site Audit. It flags duplicate content, broken canonicals, redirect chains and missing structured data, which pile up fast on stores.
- AI visibility in the same place. Starter includes 50 AI prompts, and the AI Visibility Toolkit is also sold on its own.
- Shopify help. Ecommerce Booster brings AI product description writing and product page checks right into Shopify.
Where it falls short
- Costs stack up. Suite plans run $139 to $549 a month, and extra users, prompts and apps are all extra.
- Crawl limits for big catalogs. Site Audit page limits can pinch on stores with hundreds of thousands of URLs, and there's no log file analysis.
- Shows you, doesn't fix. Beyond the Shopify app, most of the work still lands on your team.
Pricing: SEO $139/month, Starter $199 (50 AI prompts), Pro+ $299, Advanced $549. About 16% off yearly. 7-day trial.
Best for: stores that want one big suite for research, tracking and audits.
3. Ahrefs: best for keyword and competitor research
Ahrefs has one of the biggest keyword and backlink indexes around. For a store, that means finding the product and category searches your competitors rank for and you don't.
Its Site Audit covers the technical side, and every plan now includes access to Brand Radar for AI visibility.
What we like
- Competitor research. Top Pages and Content Gap show exactly which category and product pages drive a rival store's traffic.
- Backlink data. Useful for finding the review sites, gift guides and bloggers that link to your competitors.
- Brand Radar included. You can check how your brand shows up in AI answers without buying another tool.
- Clear rank tracking limits. Lite tracks 750 keywords, Standard 2,000 and Advanced 5,000.
Where it falls short
- Crawl credits. Lite has 100,000 crawl credits a month, which a large catalog can burn through in one audit.
- Paid add-ons. Custom AI prompts start at $50 a month and Content Kit at $99, on top of the plan.
- No product content tools. Nothing here writes or pushes product descriptions or schema.
Pricing: Lite $129/month, Standard $249, Advanced $449, Enterprise $1,499 (yearly).
Best for: stores that win on keyword and competitor research.
4. Botify: best for enterprise retail catalogs
Botify is built for very big sites, and its customer list reads like a mall directory: Etsy, Macy's, Ralph Lauren, Farfetch and Crocs.
It crawls millions of URLs, reads your log files to show what Googlebot and AI bots actually crawl, and can push fixes without waiting on developers.
It's also leaning hard into AI shopping. In 2026 it added AI Visibility with shopping carousel tracking and started delivering product feeds to OpenAI and Google.
What we like
- Crawl budget and faceted navigation. Log analysis shows where bots waste time on filter URLs and which products never get crawled.
- Fixes without dev tickets. PageWorkers deploys changes like titles, internal links and schema at the edge, and SpeedWorkers serves fast pre-rendered pages to bots.
- AI bot data. LogAnalyzer tracks bots like Claude-User and Google-Agent, and PageWorkers changes now reach AI bots too.
- Product feeds for AI. Agentic Feeds and AgenticCatalog enrich product data for AI shopping, though parts were still in preview or beta in 2026.
Where it falls short
- Enterprise price. There's no public pricing, and Vendr puts the median contract around $74,000 a year.
- Learning curve. G2 reviewers mention it takes time to learn, and some mention slow support.
- Weekly AI data. Its AI Visibility data refreshes weekly, not daily.
Pricing: custom, usually annual contracts. No free trial.
Best for: enterprise retailers with hundreds of thousands of URLs or more.
5. Search Atlas: best for automated on-page fixes
Search Atlas is an SEO suite built around OTTO, an AI agent that pushes fixes to your site through a pixel.
OTTO can add schema, fix titles and meta descriptions, and build internal links without you editing each product page. There's a Shopify app too.
What we like
- Fixes go live fast. OTTO deploys technical and on-page changes across many pages at once, which saves real time on a big catalog.
- Schema and internal links. Both are handled by OTTO, and they're two of the most tedious jobs in ecommerce SEO.
- A full suite. Keyword research, rank tracking, content tools and CMS publishing are all included.
- AI visibility. Growth covers ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode, and Pro adds Copilot and Perplexity.
Where it falls short
- Pixel-based changes. Fixes run through a script, so check how they render for Google and what happens to them if you cancel.
- A lot of features. Per user reviews, there's a learning curve and the interface can feel crowded.
- AI engines by plan. Starter has no AI visibility, and Perplexity needs Pro.
Pricing: Starter $79/month, Growth $159, Pro $319, Agency from $999. 7-day trial.
Best for: stores that want on-page fixes deployed for them.
6. Hypotenuse AI: best for product descriptions at scale
Hypotenuse AI writes product descriptions, meta titles and attributes for thousands of SKUs at once, in your brand voice.
It connects to the systems product data actually lives in: Shopify, Akeneo, Salsify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Amazon and Walmart listings. Brands like Billabong, MediaMarkt and Famous Footwear use it.
What we like
- Bulk generation. Import a CSV or sync your catalog and write descriptions for every product in one run.
- Attribute enrichment. Enterprise fills missing attributes from web searches, UPC lookups, spec sheets and product images.
- PIM connections. Direct links to Akeneo and Salsify matter a lot for larger retailers.
- Marketplace search. Enterprise tracks rankings on Google, Amazon and Walmart.
Where it falls short
- Not an SEO platform. There's no site crawl, rank tracking for your whole site or technical audit.
- SEO and GEO are Enterprise. The pricing page lists SEO and GEO optimization only on Ecommerce Enterprise.
- Pricing by quote. Plans are now custom, while older third-party listings still show a $29 entry plan.
Pricing: Basic (free trial, for stores under 100 products) and Ecommerce Enterprise, both by quote.
Best for: catalogs that need thousands of product descriptions written and kept up to date.
7. Alli AI: best for bulk on-page changes across Shopify and other CMSs
Alli AI lets you write an SEO rule once and apply it to every matching page, like a title template for every product in a collection.
It works on Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow, and it pre-renders pages so AI crawlers see clean content instead of a blank JavaScript shell.
What we like
- Rules across the catalog. One change can update thousands of product or category pages without editing each one.
- Product schema. Its AI schema generator can deploy Product schema across catalog pages.
- Pre-rendering for AI bots. Useful if your store is JavaScript heavy and bots like GPTBot struggle to read it.
- Trial without a card. Every plan has a 10-day free trial.
Where it falls short
- Page limits. Business covers 1,250 pages and Agency 5,000, so a large catalog pays for extra page blocks.
- Changes live in Alli's layer. Like any injected fix, check how Google renders it and what happens if you leave.
- Light research tools. It's for making changes, not deep keyword or competitor research.
Pricing: Business $2,990/year (5 sites, 1,250 pages), Agency $5,990/year (15 sites, 5,000 pages), Enterprise custom. Monthly billing available. 10-day trial.
Best for: small and mid-size stores that want bulk on-page SEO without developers.
8. Screaming Frog: best budget crawler for technical audits
Screaming Frog is the desktop crawler most SEOs keep open. It's cheap, fast and very good at finding the technical mess that builds up on stores.
It renders JavaScript, validates structured data against Schema.org and finds near-duplicate product pages.
What we like
- Great value. $279 a year for unlimited crawling is hard to beat.
- Custom extraction. Pull prices, stock status or SKUs from every product page with XPath, CSS or regex.
- Duplicate and canonical checks. It finds near-duplicate descriptions and broken canonicals across product variants.
- AI in the crawler. It connects to OpenAI and Gemini during a crawl, and version 24 in May 2026 added an MCP server.
Where it falls short
- Runs on your machine. Crawling a million URLs needs a strong computer or a cloud setup.
- No monitoring. You run crawls by hand, and log analysis is a separate tool.
- Technical only. No rank tracking, keyword research or AI visibility.
Pricing: free up to 500 URLs. $279/year per license. Log File Analyser sold separately.
Best for: technical SEO audits on any budget.
9. SE Ranking: best value rank tracking for stores
SE Ranking covers rank tracking, keyword research, backlinks and site audits for a lot less than the bigger suites.
For stores, the audit limits are generous: Core audits 250,000 pages a month and Growth 2 million.
What we like
- Lots of keywords tracked daily. Core tracks 2,000 keywords daily, enough for most mid-size catalogs.
- Big audit limits. Millions of pages a month on Growth for a few hundred dollars.
- AI search add-on. Tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode, plus ads in ChatGPT and AI Mode.
- Easy to learn. Reviewers often say it's simpler to pick up than Semrush or Ahrefs.
Where it falls short
- Smaller data sets. Keyword and backlink data are thinner than Semrush or Ahrefs.
- Add-ons. AI search costs $89 a month extra, and white-label reporting needs the Agency Pack.
- No content deployment. It won't write or push product content or schema for you.
Pricing: Core $129/month, Growth $279. AI Search add-on $89. 20% off yearly. 14-day trial.
Best for: stores that want solid rank tracking and audits on a budget.
10. Surfer: best for optimizing category pages and buying guides
Surfer scores your content against the pages that already rank and tells you which topics and terms are missing.
That's useful for the text blocks on category pages and for buying guides like "best trail running shoes," which often rank better than product pages.
What we like
- Clear content score. Writers see what to add while they write, in Surfer or Google Docs.
- AI search in the score. Its AI SEO Content Score, launched June 2026, rolls AI search signals into one number.
- AI Tracker. Tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode.
- Well liked. G2 sits around 4.8 across more than 500 reviews.
Where it falls short
- No Shopify integration. Integrations include WordPress, Google Docs and Contentful, but not Shopify.
- Content only. No crawl, no rank tracking and no backlinks.
- Score chasing. Users mention pages written to the score can read stuffed, and AI drafts need fact checking.
Pricing: Discovery $49/month, AI Search Analytics $82, Standard $99, Pro $182 (billed yearly).
Best for: content teams writing category copy and buying guides.
11. JetOctopus: best log analysis for large catalogs
JetOctopus is a cloud crawler and log analyzer priced for large sites that can't justify Botify.
It shows which products Googlebot and AI bots crawl, and which ones they ignore.
What we like
- Big crawls in the cloud. Growth covers 500,000 URLs, and Ultra 5 million.
- AI bot logs. Tracks GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and 40+ other bots, and filters fake bots with reverse DNS.
- Store integrations. Log connections include Shopify, Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai and Vercel.
- Unlimited seats and projects. Your whole team and agency can log in.
Where it falls short
- Steep learning curve. G2 reviewers say it's not for beginners.
- Technical only. No content, keyword research or AI answer tracking.
- Price jumps. It goes from $349 to $809 once you pass 500,000 URLs.
Pricing: Growth $349/month, Pro $809, Ultra $1,559. 25% off yearly. 7-day trial.
Best for: large stores that need crawl and log data without an enterprise contract.
Why ecommerce SEO needs different tools
A 50-page SaaS site and a 50,000 SKU store have very different problems.
- Faceted navigation eats crawl budget. Filters for size, color and price create endless URLs. Google's own guidance says crawlers often fetch huge numbers of these before learning they're useless.
- Big sites get skipped. Botify's 2018 log study found Google missed 51% of pages on a typical enterprise site.
- Thin and duplicate content. Manufacturer descriptions copied across hundreds of stores give Google and AI little reason to pick you.
- AI shoppers convert. Per Adobe, AI traffic had 37% higher revenue per visit than other traffic in March 2026.
What to look for in an AI SEO tool for ecommerce
- Crawl scale. Can it crawl your full catalog, including filter URLs? Check the page limits against your URL count, not your product count.
- Content at scale. Product descriptions need bulk tools. Category pages and buying guides need depth and a review step.
- Schema and internal links. Product, Offer and Review markup, plus links from guides to categories, should be easy to deploy.
- Revenue data. Rankings are nice. Revenue by page tells you what to fix first.
- AI search. Check whether it shows your products in AI shopping answers, not just your brand name.
