How to track AI crawlers on Cloudflare and WordPress

To track AI crawlers on Cloudflare, WordPress or Vercel, you connect the platform your site is hosted on. Cloudflare, Vercel and WordPress see both AI crawlers and people. Hosted builders like Framer, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix and Ghost connect through Google Analytics 4, which only sees people.

You’ll pick a method the first time you open AI Traffic, on the Connect AI traffic tracking card, under Where is your site hosted?. After that, it lives on the Settings tab under Connection methods.

Which connection method should I pick?

There are nine options. What you get depends on whether the method runs at your server or edge.

Why the split? AI crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot don’t run JavaScript. Hosted builders only let you add scripts, so they can never see a bot. What they can do is show the people who clicked through from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot, and GA4 already records those visits.

One active method per workspace

Each workspace uses one tracking method at a time. Connecting a new one makes it the tracking source, and choosing Google Analytics replaces any other active method.

Your history stays. All events go into one store, so switching or removing a method doesn’t delete the data you already have.

How do I track AI crawlers on Cloudflare?

1. In Cloudflare, go to My Profile → API Tokens → Create Token and use the Edit Cloudflare Workers template.
2. In Orchly, click Connect Cloudflare (or Connect next to Cloudflare on the Settings tab).
3. Paste the token into API Token and click Find my sites.
4. Pick your site from the Site list. Orchly reads the Zone and Account IDs for you, so there’s nothing else to copy.
5. Click Deploy Integration.

Orchly installs a Worker on that site. The drawer then shows two values, WORKSPACE_ID and API_KEY. Check they’re set on the Worker under Workers & Pages → your orchly-ai-traffic Worker → Settings → Variables and Secrets, with API_KEY saved as a Secret, then click Done.

How do I connect Vercel?

1. In Vercel, go to Settings → Tokens → Create and make a token with Full Access scope.
2. In Orchly, click Connect Vercel and fill in Vercel API Token, Team ID (Optional) and Project Name. Use the project name from the URL (vercel.com/[team]/[project-name]), not the ID. Leave Team ID empty for a personal account.
3. Click Deploy Integration.

Orchly adds a middleware.ts file to your project, sets the environment variables and triggers a deployment for you.

How do I connect WordPress?

1. Click Connect WordPress, then Generate key. Copy the key now, because Orchly only shows it once.
2. Download the plugin. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload it and activate it.
3. Open Orchly in the WordPress menu, paste the key and click Connect.

How do I connect Framer, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix or Ghost?

These connect through Google Analytics 4. Pick your platform and you’ll see a note that it can’t show AI crawlers, so only visitors from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot are tracked.

• If GA4 isn’t connected yet, click Connect Google Analytics. It takes you to Settings → Integrations, where you connect GA4 and choose the property for this site. See how to connect Google Analytics 4.
• If GA4 is already connected, click Use Google Analytics and you’re done. There’s no code to add.

The Google Analytics option works the same way for any other site that can’t run server code.

Check that tracking is working

Open the Settings tab. Tracking status shows the active method with an Active badge and four numbers: Last event, Events (7d), Events (30d) and Bot / Human (7d). Click Manage to see or remove the integration.

In Connection methods, the method you use shows In use. Setup needed means you chose Google Analytics but GA4 isn’t connected yet, or no property is picked.
