SEO content ideas generator: find articles to write
Generate new article and page refresh ideas from your Search Console data, AI citations and competitor rankings, then add them to the board.
To generate SEO content ideas in Orchly, open Content Agent and click Generate ideas. Orchly reads your Search Console data, AI citations, query fan-out and competitor rankings, checks every idea against the pages you already have, and gives you a short list of new articles and page refreshes worth doing. You pick which ones go on the board.
It usually takes one to two minutes.
How do I use the SEO content ideas generator?
- Go to Content & Action → Content Agent and click Generate ideas at the top right.
- Choose what you want. Tick one or both:
- New articles: topics your buyers search that no page of yours answers yet.
- Page refreshes: pages losing traffic, or ranking just short of the top.
- Optional: open Advanced settings to set how many. New article ideas takes 1 to 20 (10 by default) and Refresh ideas takes 1 to 10 (5 by default).
- Click Generate ideas.
The dialog shows each step as it runs, from “Reading what you sell” and “Checking your Search Console” to “Checking who ranks on Google today” and “Writing the briefs”. You can close the window while it works. The ideas will be waiting when you come back.
What data are the ideas built from?
The dialog lists its sources under Built from:
| Source | What it contributes |
|---|---|
| Search Console | Queries you already show up for but don’t win yet |
| AI citations | Prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini where competitors get named instead of you |
| Query fan-out | The hidden sub-queries AI engines run behind those prompts |
| DataForSEO | Monthly search volume and keyword difficulty for every phrase |
| Competitor rankings | Searches your competitors rank for and you don’t |
| Your site | What you already cover, so nothing is suggested twice |
AI prompts are rewritten into the searches people actually type, then measured. An AI visibility gap becomes a keyword with real volume, not a vague topic. See query fan-out for how those sub-queries work.
Refresh ideas come from your own pages: ones losing traffic against the previous period, ones ranking at positions 5 to 15, and topics an existing page should own instead of a second page competing with it.
Search Console is the richest source. Without it, ideas lean on competitor data and AI answers only. Connect Search Console before your first run.
Why and how: read each idea before you add it
Results come in two tabs, New articles and Refreshes. Each idea shows its target keyword, monthly searches and keyword difficulty from 0 to 100.
Expand Why and how on any idea to see its brief:
- Why it brings customers: how the topic connects to what you sell.
- How to approach it: the angle that can win page one.
- Article: the proposed title and shape of the piece.
- Page one in your market today: who ranks right now, so you can judge whether it’s winnable.
Every idea starts checked. Untick the ones you don’t want, or use Check all and Uncheck all.
Add ideas to the board
Click Add N to board. The ideas land in the Suggested column of the Content Agent board, where they wait for your approval. Approve one and an agent can start writing it.
Ideas you generate yourself aren’t capped. The weekly automatic plan keeps the board to 5 new articles and 3 refreshes at a time, but anything you pick here is added because you chose it.
Better input, better ideas: your business profile
Ideas are chosen to sell your offers in your market, so they’re only as good as what Orchly knows about your business. That lives in Brand Brain under Products, in the What you sell section:
- Type of business and Where you sell, plus Areas you serve if you’re local.
- Offers, each with the page that sells it.
- What makes someone a customer and Who buys.
- Brands or products you carry.
- What you do not offer. Anything listed here is never suggested.
Onboarding drafts this from your website. Spend five minutes checking it. A wrong market or a missing offer skews every idea.
What if there are no new ideas?
If the dialog says No new ideas this time, nothing cleared the bar. Everything it found is already covered, planned, or too weak to be worth writing. Try again after you publish more, connect more data, or ask for refreshes instead.
