Google Search Console not showing data? How to fix it
Not connected, still syncing, lost access or out of date. What each empty or stale state on the Organic Traffic dashboard means and how to fix it.
If Google Search Console is not showing data in Orchly, it’s almost always one of four things: Search Console (or GA4, or Bing) isn’t connected, the first sync is still running, Orchly lost access to the account, or the numbers are out of date. Orchly shows a different message for each, so you’re never left guessing whether a zero means “no traffic” or “no data yet”.
Below is what each state on Organic Traffic looks like and how to fix it.
Why Search Console isn’t showing data: the four states
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Connect Google Search Console (or Connect Google Analytics, Connect Bing Webmaster Tools) | That source isn’t connected to this workspace | Click Connect and set it up in Integrations |
| Pulling your Search Console data | Connected, and the first sync is still running | Wait. Nothing to fix |
| We lost access to this account | Orchly can’t read the account and has stopped trying | Click Reconnect |
| A banner tagged Not current or Reconnect needed | Your data is real but hasn’t updated recently | Read the date, reconnect if asked |
Each source is checked separately, so Search Console can be fine while GA4 needs attention.
”Connect Google Search Console”: not connected
The dashboard shows a connect screen for whichever source you picked in the source picker. For Search Console it says Connect Google Search Console; for GA4, Connect Google Analytics; for Bing, Connect Bing Webmaster Tools.
Click Connect to go to Settings → Integrations. Then follow the guide for that source:
- How to connect Google Search Console to Orchly
- How to connect Google Analytics 4 to Orchly
- How to connect Bing Webmaster Tools
Signing in with Google isn’t the whole setup. Search Console needs a site picked, and GA4 needs a property picked, before anything syncs. If the source shows Action required in Settings → Integrations, open it and finish that step.
”Pulling your Search Console data”: still syncing
This is the waiting screen after you connect. For Search Console, Orchly fetches up to 16 months of clicks, impressions and keywords, and large sites take a little longer. GA4 and Bing show their own version, Pulling your Analytics data and Pulling your Bing data.
You don’t need to do anything. The dashboard fills in once the first pull finishes.
In the Search Console + Analytics view, the waiting screen only shows while every connected source is still pulling. As soon as one has data, you get a real dashboard.
”We lost access to this account”: broken connection
This means Orchly tried to read the account and couldn’t. The message underneath says why, for example that Orchly doesn’t have permission to read your Search Console data, or that the sync failed repeatedly.
Common causes:
- The Google user who connected the account lost access to the Search Console property or GA4 property.
- Someone revoked Orchly’s access in their Google account settings.
- The property was deleted or moved.
Click Reconnect. It takes you to Settings → Integrations, where you connect the account again with a Google user who has access to that property.
”Not current” or “Reconnect needed”: stale data
When a source has worked before but stops updating, Orchly keeps showing your dashboard and adds a banner above it. It says when the numbers were last updated, so a stale figure never passes as today’s.
- Not current means the last successful sync is more than three days old. Orchly is usually retrying on its own. If the banner sticks around, reconnect the account.
- Reconnect needed means access stopped working. The numbers haven’t updated since the date in the banner. Click Reconnect to resume.
Google itself reports Search Console data with a delay of a couple of days. A dashboard that stops two or three days before today is normal and won’t get a banner.
What if the dashboard shows zeros with no message?
Then the data is live and those really are your numbers for the filters you’ve set. Check the date range, the branded dropdown (Non-branded hides your brand searches) and any filter chips before assuming something’s broken.
